  about us

Kabataan News Network (KNN) is a network of about one hundred sixty young video journalists from ten different areas from all over the Philippines. KNN produces Kabataan X-Press, a show that offers a unique window into the world of the Filipino youth. The show chronicles more than just what's hip and what's cool, it also looks into major issues that concern young people aged 14-20. Teen prostitution, girl to girl relationships, election issues, the state of the juvenile justice system, mining in Camarines Norte, and the life of Muslims in Manila are just some of the hard-hitting stories that have been featured on the show.

These young journalists are not only given technical training on television production but are also nurtured to become good, ethical and well-rounded citizens. Probe Media Foundation provides the skills training while UNICEF provides them with the necessary equipment like camera, tripod and microphone.

The KNN reporters do all the hard work with a little help from their adult bureau managers. They think of the topics for their reports and research about them. They shoot, interview, transcribe and write the scripts. This makes KNN's Kabataan X-Press a first of its kind, a show that is truly for the youth and by the youth.

KNN is implemented by Probe Media Foundation, Inc. with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Philippines.
